Nikon D5000 or D90 for self portraits.?
Basically, i’m buying a new SLR and i need to know exactly which ones better for ME. I want the following: Amazing image quality and sharpness. Great detail. basically everything a good SLR should provide. However, I need a camera that i can take great self portraits with, which is where the D5000’s swivel screen comes in handy. I’ve seen samples of the D90s work on flickr, and it looks better than that of the D5000. I’m a photoshop wiz, so if its editing please just say so.
I guess what i’m asking is, which camera is better for the money
the D90
or the D5000
(i already know about the LCDs, the autofocus moter lacking, i just need to know which takes the better, sharper, more detailed and vibrant pictures.)
Both are good camera but personally I prefer Nikon D90. Picture out of it are sharp and colors are true.

Both have very close to the same insides and both can create great images. The D5000 having on auto focus motor in the camera body is not a big deal. There are many lenses available and more coming.
You know about the movable swivel LCD but I have to say since you mentioned wanting to shoot "self portraits" then that LCD get positioned so you can see your self-portrait poses.
Hope this helps.

the d90 is a better deal and the quality of the photos is impressive. resolution is up there with the nikons costing thousands more, autofocus and exposure dead-on. the d90 also has many pro features.
maybe the d5000 is a bit easier but in the long run a serious photographer is better off w the d90
